The Vineyards at Dodon is pleased to partner with Kelly Mulville and the Paicines Ranch Learning Center to host an intensive one-and-a-half-day workshop on regenerative viticulture. During this field and classroom-based opportunity, you will learn the tools of ecological viticulture, the science that supports them, how they can be applied in diverse settings, and their benefits for the environment and the wine. The program is designed for winegrape growers, wine producers, wine merchants, vineyard managers, agroforesters, students, educators, and anyone passionate about healthy ecosystems should attend.
Topics to be Covered:
- Ecosystem processes and how they relate to wine growing
- Holistic decision-making that aligns ecological values with vineyard practices
- Applying the tools and practices of ecological farming to your vineyard
- The crucial role of animals in healthy ecosystems
- Vineyard floor management, healthy soils, extreme rain, draught, and microbes
- Managing insect pests with biodiversity
- Beyond the vineyard: The value of landscape biodiversity
- Ecological farming, yield, and wine quality
- Sequestering carbon and reducing pesticide use while creating vineyard resilience
Connecting with each other
We learn as much from each other as we do in the classroom. After the last session on Monday, we will keep the discussion going with a happy hour and dinner featuring lamb from our vineyard and locally grown vegetables. We invite growers to bring a bottle to share with the group.
