American Vineyard Magazine has served grape growers since February 1992. For more than thirty years we have covered one industry and covered it completely — wine, juice, raisin and table grapes, from the San Joaquin Valley to the coast and across the West.
We are not a wine magazine. There is no shortage of publications writing about tasting notes and label design. Ours is written for the people who grow the fruit: the grower deciding whether to spray this week, the pest control adviser walking a block before bloom, the farm manager weighing a replant against another season. Most of our readers farm well under a hundred acres, and most of them are reading us to make a decision with a deadline attached.
What we publish
The magazine follows the season rather than the news cycle. Trunk disease and dormant sprays in winter. Frost protection and canopy management in spring. Vine mealybug, mildew pressure and irrigation through the summer. Harvest, postharvest nutrition and sprayer calibration on the way out. Alongside it we publish research from the university extension services and USDA scientists whose work reaches growers first through pages like these.
Every issue is also published here in full, in its original printed form — the archive goes back to our first years in print.
Who we are
American Vineyard is published by Malcolm Media Ag Publishing, a family-run agricultural publisher whose titles also include California Dairy, California Fruit & Vegetable, Pacific Nut Producer and California Ag Network. The family has been in this business a long time, and the magazine is still put together by people who answer their own phones.
Advertising with us
Our readers are growers and the advisers who work alongside them — the people who actually specify and buy. If you sell into the vineyard, they are who you are trying to reach. Get in touch with our sales team and we will send you the current rates and editorial calendar.
Get in touch
Story ideas, corrections, subscription questions and advertising enquiries all go through our contact page, which routes your message straight to the right desk. Running an industry event? Submit it to our calendar and we will consider it for publication.
