The NC Wine Growers Association is hosting the first NC International Wine Symposium May 21st – May 24th at Wake Forest University.
Speakers will be featured from 8 countries around the world. The wine industry is currently grappling with a range of significant issues, including climate change, regulatory concerns, evolving consumer demographics, and labor force dynamics. These topics are being actively discussed across various regions as industry stakeholders seek to understand and address the challenges at hand.
The Symposium will also be showcasing North Carolina wines throughout the three days. The Welcome reception will feature NC sparkling wines. During the lunch NC Wines will be served from the Mountains and the Coast on the first day and Piedmont (Central area) the second day. During the last evening there will be a Taste of NC where we will be featuring NC wines. On Thursday, May 22nd 3 dinners will be hosted simultaneously at Childress Vineyards, Shelton Vineyards and JOLO Vineyards. NC wines along with the international speakers’ wines will be featured at each.
Representation from as many NC wineries as possible is encouraged. Your wines may be chosen for a dinner or for the Taste of NC or you can donate for lunch. Depending on how many wineries offer to participate, you most likely will not be chosen for more than one event. For the lunch wines, we only need 6 bottles. Please note that we do have some criteria to participate- The wines must be made from 75% North Carolina grapes.
