Overview

Friday, Aug. 14, 2026.  10:00-2:30 UGA Tifton Campus

View and taste existing and potential new cultivars of fresh market muscadine grapes.

Where: Meet at the UGA Tifton Campus Muscadine Vineyard (see picture and directions below). Visitors may taste test any variety but taking cuttings is not allowed.  We have most released cultivars available, and we will also be sampling new selections from the breeding program.  If you have any questions contact Patrick Conner at pconner@uga.edu.

When: 10:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.-Friday, August 14, 2026

Exit off I-75 at Exit 64. Turn onto US Highway 41 North. Travel approximately 0.2 miles and take the first road to the left which is RDC Road. Continue straight on RDC Road across the railroad tracks to the stop sign. Take a left onto Moore Highway. Go straight through at the stop light and turn right onto Coastal Way.  Travel along Coastal Way to Bermuda Drive.  Along Bermuda Drive you will see a mini golf course on the left.  The muscadine vineyard is on the right, behind a chain link fence. You can search for: Engineering Drive, Tifton GA, and get directions in Google Maps.

10:00 – Tour of the Muscadine Vineyard.

10:45 – End tour and move to NESPAL Seminar Room.

11:00 – Muscadine Vine Spacing: Getting the Most Out of Your Vineyard – Dr. Sarah Lowder.

11:20 – Effect of Different Boron Application Methods and Timing on Muscadine Cultivar ‘Paulk’ – Bijaya Ghimire.

11:40 – UGA Muscadine Breeding Program Updates – Dr. Patrick Conner.

Noon – Provided Lunch.

12:45 – Muscadine Taste Trial – Sampling of the latest from the UGA breeding program.

1:30 – Tour of the Muscadine Vineyard and Fellowship Time (event concludes at 2:30).
