The Oregon Wine Board, the organization representing all wineries and vineyards in Oregon, has launched Pour It Forward (#pouritfORward), a new social media campaign for Oregon Wine Month. The campaign shares videos from winemakers across the state tasting wines made by their peers, during a month-long chain of appreciation. A new, winemaker-created video will be posted daily on the Oregon Wine Board’s Instagram and Facebook channels during the month of May.
Pour It Forward celebrates the many faces behind Oregon wine, the breadth of wines made in the state, and the strong sense of collegiality at the core of the Oregon wine industry. In engaging minute-long videos, winemakers in the campaign share their knowledge and tasting notes about a fellow Oregon winemaker’s wine, who then shares their thoughts on a different wine in turn, and so on. Thirty-one Oregon winemakers are featured in the campaign, which debuted on May 1.
Hosted on the Oregon Wine Board’s Instagram and Facebook pages, the Pour It Forward campaign shares a new video every day. The first video on May 1 featured winemaker John Grochau of Grochau Cellars in the Eola-Amity Hills AVA tasting a Vermentino from winemaker Nate Wall of Troon Vineyard in the Applegate Valley AVA. The following day, Wall shared a Mencia from Analemma Wines in the Columbia Gorge AVA.
The month-long campaign will feature wineries from all corners of Oregon’s rich and varied winemaking landscape, from The Rocks District of Milton-Freewater, to the Chehalem Mountains in the Willamette Valley. The short videos provide a window into the collaborative Oregon wine industry and gives a platform for winemakers to praise wines made by their talented peers. As well as on social media platforms, the videos are housed on the Oregon Wine Month page.
With so many Oregon wines to give praise to, the Oregon Wine Board encourages winemakers across the state, as well as wine trade and wine drinkers across the country, to celebrate Oregon Wine Month by sharing their own Pour It Forward videos. Those interested in starting their own chain of appreciation for Oregon Wine Month can learn more by visiting the Oregon Wine Board’s Industry page.
