2019 Sonoma County Grape Day
February 7 @ 8:00 am - 12:00 pm
Sonoma County Grape Day provides research-based information on issues important to the production of coastal winegrapes. The keynote speaker this year is Dr. Tom Collins, from Washington State University who will address his research projects related to smoke taint. Specifically the composition of smoke from different fuel sources, simulated wildfire exposure to vines in hoop houses and his evaluations of primarily wines that have been affected by actual wildfires, including wines from Napa, Sonoma and Washington. UC Davis Plant physiologist Dr. Kaan Kurtural, will address research results that illuminate how leaf area and crop load control affects vine physiology and fruit ripening. Three speakers will address pest management topics applicable for CE units: grapevine rootstock performance in site infested with the dagger nematode that vectors grapevine fanleaf virus, weed control and Pierce’s disease.
