California’s 2018 grape acreage totaled 925,000 acres. Of the total grape acreage, 863,000 were bearing while 62,000 were non-bearing. The wine-type grape acreage is estimated at 637,000 acres. Of the total acres, 590,000 were bearing and 47,000 were non-bearing. Table-type grape acreage totaled 132,000 acres with 121,000 bearing and 11,000 non-bearing. In 2018 California table grape growers produced just under 117.1 million box units of grapes which translates to 115.6 million 19-pound boxes. The 2018 total marks the second largest volume shipped in industry history, behind only the 2013 total of 117.4 million box units. California Grape Growers Award Scholarships

Fresno, CA – California’s table grape growers recently awarded scholarships to eight students in grape-growing regions of the state. All recipients will be attending California universities or colleges. Five field worker scholarships were awarded in 2018: two $3,500 two-year scholarships to community colleges, and three $20,000 four-year field worker scholarships.
